As editors of business and management journals, we unite to facilitate development and dissemination of rigorous scholarship that guides practice and policy. Through coordinated activities, POPN develops global capacity to engage the energy and expertise of business and management scholars in robust research that addresses and resolves real-world problems.
Amidst decades-long and rising calls from academia and broader society to produce research that is relevant to the real world, many scholars have only increased their dogged pursuit of limited space in a select set of theory driven journals. Advancing theory has its merits, but also its limits. To robustly respond to the ongoing and earnest calls to use our skills in more impactful ways, we must learn how to break out of our old and worsening research habits. To do that, aspiring, emerging, and established researchers alike must see that there are many prominent outlets in which to publish their impactful scholarship, and they must be aided in developing the skills necessary to write in ways suited to these outlets.Â
Through POPN, editors hosts online and in-person "Pop In" workshops that provide guidance to scholars and practitioners at various career stages on how to conduct, format, and revise research studies in ways that credibly inform practice and policy and can be published within well-reputed practice-oriented business and management journals. We also post written and video content to guide practice-oriented scholarship.
